At Golden Belt Humane Society, we are committed to providing a safe haven for animals in need. Our shelter offers a wide range of services, including pet adoptions, microchipping, and animal control services. Our team of animal lovers is dedicated to finding the best fitting and loving homes for all of our pets.
To help with the care of the shelter animals, Paws & Claws was started by a community member, Cathy Vonfeldt, that shares the love for unwanted pets. Not only does she just the animals, she too, is a repeat adopter of shelter pets and became a Board Member in 2023. Cathy also has a deep love for the classics and organizing this car show was fun for her. We can’t thank her enough, that’s for sure!
History
In 2019, the very first show was debuted as The Walnut Car Show held at Walnut Bowl in Great Bend, Ks. The start of the car show history landed around 30 entries. But after three years of holding the event at this location and seeing the growth in the number of cars entering, the decision was made - time for a new venue! Not only the venue change would happen, but also a more fitting name change.
In 2022, Paws & Claws was born, gracing its presence at the Brit Spaugh Park. With more space, shade, and located at a very busy intersection, came more foot traffic and more car entries!
Growing to nearly 100 plus entries has been such a fabulous success. Where there are people, there is hunger. Golden Belt Humane Society’s Adopt a Pet Committee set up a food tent to accommodate. Serving a variety of tasty meal, this was another way to help care for the animals as the funds are used for them as well.
We are looking forward to 2025 and hope to see you there.
